Renaissance Art of Classical Antiquity such as DaVinci, Michaelangelo, Raphael and Bouguereau (just to name a few) were my inspiration.

While travelling through Europe I spent many hours in the Louvre and The Musee Du Orsay gazing at these masterpieces. The finer details and perfection where light depicts the objects more realistically and with greater effect was captivating. I wanted to create the same intricate technique of these great artists where the multitude of colours just in the skin tone alone is a challenge.

My technique is sometimes compared to air brushing, but it is purely by using brushes (sometimes up to 15) and constant blending.

The right Teacher was paramount to my interest in this technique and through the teaching of my mentor John Paul, his classes delivered not only technique but also philosophy, literature and mythology.
